FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

We must transform the trajectory of climate change and provide access and opportunities to small underserved producers (farmers and ranchers) and small value-added businesses.

NLFR advocates for The Inflation Reduction Act. We believe the bill is a huge step in the right direction; empowering rural climate leaders and advancing the nation’s climate goals. Ultimately, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 44 percent. We advocate for the Inflation Reduction Act because this will be done without increasing taxes for the many hard-working producers in America; including veterans, Latino, value-add small businesses, indigenous, and family farmers.

NLFR’s Executive Director, Rudy Arredondo commends the assembling of this historic bill. “It’s an example of the collective effort for a sustainable future and future generations.”

NLFR’s biggest focus lately is the devastated areas the wildfires have caused in CA and NM. Working with producers who have lost a farm, a ranch or home, and the draining economic and emotional impact on each individual and their families. This bill is the answer to bring needed relief. NLFR knows that producers’ insurance is not enough (if the producers are even up to date on their insurance payments). The bill would invest $5 billion in sustainable forestry to help prevent wildfires.

NLFR knows the risks of wildfires, droughts and floods are real and happening all around us. We must transform the trajectory of climate change and provide access and opportunities to small underserved producers and small value-added businesses.
